My name is Anastasia Pattemore, I am a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of Groningen investigating plurilingual audiovisual input and newcomers’ language acquisition.
I received my PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Barcelona. My research is on second language acquisition and audiovisual input. I am especially interested in how exposure to subtitled original version audiovisual input affects learning of L2 constructions both inside and outside the classroom. I also focus on the effects of individual differences (e.g. working memory, aptitude, proficiency) on learning from audiovisual input. Recently I have also been exploring viewing time distribution (e.g. binge-watching) on learning.
My work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as System, Second Language Research, The JALT CALL Journal, CALL, and The Language Learning Journal, and presented at various international conferences (e.g. AAAL, AILA, EuroSLA, CALICO, EuroCALL).
